Twelve years of Wikipedia research is a systematic review of Wikipedia research. Publications was obtained from the Elsevier Scopus service.

Publications was annotated with three facets:

  1. Related to Wikipedia (major, minor or unrelated)
  2. About or using Wikipedia
  3. Technological or social/theoretical

They retrieved 3582 items search Scopus. 641 was categorized as unrelated (to Wikipedia research), finding 2968 actual Wikipedia research papers, where 2301 were "major" related and 667 "minor" related.
