The temporal operculum is the part of the temporal lobe that covers the insula.[1]

One source defines the "temporal operculum" with: "The superior temporal gyrus, together with the temporal pole and the inferior portion of the supramarginal gyrus, constitute the temporal operculum [...]".[2] On the other hand NeuroNames list other names for the temporal operculum as supratemporal plane (in macaque) and facies supratemporalis [2], and the Mai atlas groups the temporal operculum under the superior temporal gyrus [3].
