Neuroanatomical correlates of personality in the elderly is a personality neuroimaging study with structural magnetic resonance imaging and personality.

Personality traits were assessed with NEO-FFI and cortical thickness was measured with Freesurfer.

The group of researchers have published a similar study on a population of yonger subjects.

A group of 29 right-handed elderly with 12 males and 17 females were included in the study. The group had a mean age of 70.3 with a range from 61 to 84.

The elderly, that was around seventy year, was without any neurologival, medical or psychiatric condition, and performed normally on the Mini-Mental State Examination (range 27-30).

[edit] Results

Statistical threshold was selected at as <0.001 two-tailed within the lateral and inferior prefrontal cortex and <0.0001 two-tailed outside (page 4 in PMC file).
