Foundational Model of Anatomy (FMA) is a biomedical ontology for anatomy. It is a project of the Structural Informatics Group, Department of Biological Structure at the University of Washington

The Foundational Model Explorer (FME) is a Web-based application for viewing the ontology. The application was developed by Todd Detwiler.

The ontology has linked the anatomical structures with 'bounded by', 'part', and 'part of' links. The neuroanatomical part of FMA has such entities as brain, forebrain, telencephalon, right cerebral hemisphere, right frontal lobe, right precentral gyrus, gray matter of right precentral gyrus, Brodmann area 3 of right precentral gyrus.

For brain regions in the Brede Wiki which are linked to FMA see Category:Brain regions in Foundational Model of Anatomy.
