The anterior cingulate gyrus (anterior cingulate cortex, ACC) is the frontal part of the cingulate gyrus.

Based on human neuroimaging studies ACC maybe divided into separate regions.[1]

Wayne C. Drevets and his co-authors refer to "subgenual ACC" (sgACC), i.e., regard the subgenual anterior cingulate cortex as part of the ACC.[2]
